随着确诊病例提高，天主教会从周三（7日）开始，在吉隆坡及雪兰莪地区暂停所有的周末及工作日群众活动。
根据《自由今日大马》报道，天主教会吉隆坡总主教廖炳坚透过声明如是表示。
不过声明中没有阐明日期，但表示会在10月20日重新检视这项决定。
“当局会透过线上直播方式为无法出席的信徒参与。”
至于彭亨、森美兰和登嘉楼则允许继续主办活动，但信徒需预先登记。
教会也提醒雪隆一代的天主教徒避免到其他州属出席活动，避免传染的风险。
他也建议尽可能展延婚礼或限制出席观礼人数，确保不超过20人；丧礼仪式则应该限定家人，以及人数不超过20人。
“至于高风险群则应该避免出席这些仪式。”
