槟岛海墘路炸香蕉档口前路面出现龟裂，水源不断溢出，所幸槟州供水机构及时关闭输水管，以阻路面破损程度进一步扩大。
事发后，槟岛市政厅人员已将龟裂的范围用路障围起，以策安全。槟州供水机构派员到场调查后，证实该路面地下水管出现龟裂，导致水源从地下溢出。

根据供水机构在脸书发布通知，维修工作在周一（20日）上午11时30分进行，持续至下午4时30分。
另外，彭加兰哥打州议员王宇航证实，他周一早上8时30分接到投报，指上述路面出现龟裂情况，已即刻联系槟岛市政厅，而市厅工程部随即安排路障。他说，市厅工程部主管也指，上述路面并没有出现坑洞，而是龟裂造成水源不断溢出。
