若修宪公投获通过，普京有机会继续掌权。
俄罗斯于当地时间周四至下周三举行为期一周的修宪公投。若修宪公投获通过，则重新计算总统普京的任期，代表他在2024年任期届满后，可继续参选，并有机会掌权多2个任期至2036年。
修宪中最关键的修订是将普京的任期归零，但不适用于未来的总统。其他修宪内容包括增强议会的作用，赋予议会任命总理的权力、赋予总统在法院和检察院工作方面更大话语权，以及禁止同性婚姻，列明“上帝信仰”是俄罗斯的传统价值之一。
俄罗斯现行宪法在1993年通过，普京今年1月在国会发表国情咨文时提议修宪，下议院杜马及上议院联邦委员会在3月先后以大比数通过宪法改革修正案。俄国原定4月下旬公投，碍于新冠肺炎疫情影响，普京将公投推迟。
