法国前总统希拉克于周四逝世，享年86岁。他于1995年至2007年2度出任法国总统。

近年来，希拉克由于健康原因数次住院，很少公开露面。
几十年来，希拉克在法国政坛一直颇有影响。他在国内推出的重大政治改革之一是将总统任期从7年减至5年。在国际舞台上，2003年，希拉克曾经强烈反对美国入侵伊拉克，法国的否决票对巴黎和美国、英国的关系带来长期影响。
他也是欧洲最长的执政者，18年内当选2次总统、2次总理和巴黎市长，也是战后法国最出名的政治人物之一。
