KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) — A man was charged in the Ampang Magistrate’s Court here today with supporting terrorist activities involving the use of explosives and giving support to terrorist group, in March.
Nur Redzwan Wan Redzmann, 29, who was unrepresented, nodded when the charges were read out to him before Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Nor.
No plea was recorded because the case was under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
On the first charge he allegedly supported terrorist acts in the use of explosives, through the Telegram apps on his iphone 5s mobile phone.
On the second charge he was accused of voluntarily providing support to the Daesh terrorist group.
The accused allegedly committed both offences at No 7 Jalan Watan 24, Taman Sri Watan, Ampang, here between March 25 to June 30.
The first charge is under Section 130J (1) (b) of the Penal Code while the second charge is under Section 130J (1) (a) of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a maximum of 30 years, or a fine and may be deprived of any property which were used or intended to be used to commit the offence, if convicted.
The court set Oct 10 for mention.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene.
