英国当地时间周五（31日）气温徘徊在摄氏15度，创下英国史上最温暖跨年日纪录英国气象局表示：“英国各地在非常温和天候下结束2021年。”
英国气象局（Met Office）发言人Stephen Dixon说，英格兰北部约克郡（Yorkshire）村庄拉伊希尔（Ryehill）31日上午11时测得摄氏14.9度气温，打破2011年在威尔斯（Wales）创下的前一个最温暖跨年日摄氏14.8度纪录。
英国气象局其后又在推特发文指出，位在东密德兰（East Midlands）地区的林肯郡（Lincolnshire）村庄康宁斯比（Coningsby）31日测得摄氏15.3度，“意味今天是英国有史以来最温暖跨年日”。

包括首都伦敦和卡地夫（Cardiff），英国有数座城市今天气温预报都达到摄氏15度。
英国国家气候资讯中心（National Climate Information Centre）科学家Mike Kendon在英国气象局发布的概要当中指出，今年整体来说，气候比以往平均，稍微温暖和干燥些。

英国气象局说，2021年“很可能挤进自1884年以来的历来英国最温暖前20个年分之列”，显示“我们的气候正在暖化”。
