早前槟岛霹雳路消拯局有9名消拯员确诊新冠肺炎，目前9人皆康复，38名消拯员已结束隔离，重回救援岗位。
槟州消拯局主任沙顿表示，霹雳路消拯局在7月30日有9名消拯员确诊冠病，该局半数消拯员即29名消拯员进行检测后，被安排在局内的特别室隔离至8月10日。
他指出，虽然早前部分人员受到影响，可是该局仍然拥有足够消拯员，而其他分局也可以对霹雳路消拯局作出支援，一旦发生紧急事故如火灾等可以马上抵达现场救援。
他透露，从2020年3月7日至2021年8月12日，槟州共有28名消拯员确诊，截至目前还有4人在治疗中，161名消拯员与确诊者有密切接触，截至目前还有3名在隔离中。
他强调，消拯员在执勤时都严守防疫标准作业程序，消拯员虽确诊被隔离，但消拯局仍执行日常任务。

他呼吁民众勿恐慌，也希望民众在这期间给予谅解及配合。
他周五出席霹雳路消拯局接领由槟州增广知识基金会（Yayasan Bina Ilmu）主席拿督阿都拉昔移交物资活动上，如是透露。
