美国国务卿布林肯重申，美国绝对不会坐视不理澳洲面对中国的经济胁迫。
他表示，中国对美国盟友采取的这种举动将无助于改善中美关系。

他在周四与到访美国的澳洲外长佩恩一起出席记者会时说：“我们已经向中国表明，他对我们最亲密的伙伴和盟友采取此类行动，将对改善我们与中国的关系构成障碍。”
与此同时，佩恩也表示，澳洲明确表示希望与中国建立建设性的关系，但是澳洲绝不会在损害国家安全或主权的问题上做出让步，并且会继续采取行动捍卫这点。
中国和澳洲的关系越来越紧绷，中国对来自澳洲的产品包括葡萄酒到煤炭等实施了一系列“贸易措施”。
