菲律宾首都各城镇均发现变异新冠病毒感染病例。
菲律宾卫生部副部长玛丽亚·罗萨里奥·贝尔盖雷22日证实，该国首都大马尼拉地区下辖所有城镇均发现变异新冠病毒感染病例。菲政府决定，22日起在大马尼拉及邻近4个省份实施为期两周的封闭隔离。
菲律宾疫情近来快速反弹，单日新增病例已连续3天超过7000宗。卫生部22日报告新增8019宗确诊病例，为疫情暴发以来最高纪录，累计确诊达67万1792宗，累计死亡1万2972宗。大马尼拉地区是疫情“重灾区”，日增病例超过全国的一半。
菲卫生部认为，疫情反弹的部分原因是一些民众未遵守政府防疫规定。此外，菲律宾发现多种变异新冠病毒，使形势更加复杂。
卫生部统计数字显示，当地已累计确诊223宗最早在英国发现的B.1.1.7变异新冠病毒感染病例、152宗最早在南非发现的B.1.351变异新冠病毒感染病例、超过100宗最早在菲律宾发现的P.3变异病毒感染病例和1宗最早在巴西发现的P.1变异病毒感染病例。
贝尔盖雷说，菲律宾卫生部正寻求世界卫生组织协助，以确定变异新冠病毒在菲是否已形成社区传播。
