2016年，莫里科内以《八恶人》获得第88届奧斯卡最佳原创音乐奖。
为《天堂电影院》等数百部影片配乐的意大利著名作曲家莫里科内周一凌晨在罗马去世，享年91岁。
莫里科内的律师阿苏马向媒体表示，葬礼将以私人形式举行，以便符合“他一生行为中体现出的谦卑之感”。
莫里科内在1928年于罗马出生，曾为500多部影视作品配乐。2007年他获得奥斯卡终身成就奖，并曾2次获得金球奖，数次获得格莱美奖，也曾获得威尼斯电影节奖项。2016年，他以《八恶人》获得第88届奧斯卡最佳原创音乐奖。
