选委会主席拿督阿兹哈表示，举行“闪电大选”的费用昂贵，预计将耗资7亿至8亿令吉，比第14届大选更高。

根据《星报》报道，阿兹哈指出，2018年5月举行的第14届全国大选，费用高达5亿至6亿令吉，相信现在花费更大。

他说，自他接任选委会主席以来，选委会已进行部分方面的改进，包括增加投票站，减少选民等待时间。

“每个投票中心增加1或2个投票站，也导致需增加人力，及租用帐篷或其他协助长者及残疾人士的设施，因此费用将提高。”

“我们可能还需租用新地方作为投票中心，所以举行闪电大选肯定会比上次的全国大选花费更多。”

他续说，除此之外，还须考虑物流成本，而且不排除有些人会借机牟利，抬高服务价格。他补充，若真有需要举行闪电大选，须在国会解散的60天内举行。
